NEW YORK— The New Yorker Hotel is officially opening a quartet of new conference rooms today, with the meeting spaces dedicated to the memory of former managing director Mark Wilenchik, who died last November. Each of the new rooms— located on the third floor of the newly renovated, multi-story Midtown hotel and named after such notable Manhattan neighborhoods as Kips Bay, Herald Square, Gramercy Park and Sutton Place— are described as featuring state-of-the-art technology. Moreover, a plaque honoring Wilenchik will be permanently displayed outside the new conference facilities. The four newly added rooms— taken together— have been designed to accommodate more than 600 people in a combined space of 10,000 square feet. This brings the property’s total meeting and conference space up to 30,000 square feet… plus the capability of being combined with the hotel’s adjacent sister property, the Manhattan Center.
