MIAMI More than two-thirds of leisure travelers interested in purchasing a timeshare feel they “don t have enough vacation time,” reported the 2000 National Leisure Travel Monitor, co-authored by Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown and Yankelowich Partners, and sponsored in part by Interval International. The study also noted that more than three-quarters of leisure travelers plan to take more pleasure trips during the next 12 months, while a similar proportion plan to take more long vacations (5+ continuous nights). Each of these percentages is significantly higher than displayed by the leisure traveler who is not interested in purchasing timeshare.
The “pursuit of enjoyment” is also high on the “to-do” list for these consumers. Approximately 80% of travelers interested in purchasing a timeshare plan to “have more fun” this year, and six out of 10 would prefer two additional weeks of vacation over two additional weeks of salary, said the survey.
