NEW YORK HOTEL BUSINESS. has learned that Morris Lasky is putting the finishing touches on a new conference that will cover the hotel, timeshare, cruise, gaming and spa industries.
The event will be called The International Resort Conference, and is slated to be held February 20-24, 2002 in Miami. Its location has not yet been confirmed.
Lasky said initial reaction to the new event has been amazing so far. He noted that the conference will be structured similarly to The Lodging Conference an event he also developed, which has been successfully executed for the last seven years.
Panels for The International Resort Conference will be mixed, featuring executives from lodging, gaming, spa and cruise companies so as to give attendees a broad view of travel trends, he said.
Much like The Lodging Conference, the new resort event is targeting hotel owners, members of the financial community, and respective industry executives as its attendee base.
This is the second new lodging conference to be announced this month. The American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) said earlier this month that it has developed The Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) to be held February 3-5 in Los Angeles. The event will be a collaborative effort between AH&LA and James Burba, founder of the UCLA Extension Annual Hotel Industry Investment Conference and the International Hotel Investment Forum.
