BEND, OR— AmeriTel Inns plans to open a new 93-room hotel in Bends Old Mill District in Spring 2003, according to executives of Boise, ID-based AmeriTel and River Bend Ltd. Partnership. The hotel will be built on 2.2 acres that sit atop a bluff in the Upper Terrace area of the district. It will overlook The Shops retail/entertainment center and feature views of the Deschutes River and Cascades Mountains. Brian Black, vp/operations for AmeriTel said the company will file a site plan for the project with the City of Bend within the next week to 10 days. AmeriTel currently operates seven hotels in Idaho, one in Elk, NV, and one in Olympia, WA. This property will be the companys first one in Oregon. The hotel will feature a 24-hour indoor pool, spa, but no restaurant— though guests will be offered a complimentary buffet breakfast with muffins and pastries baked on-premises. Fifteen percent of the rooms will be suites, with five or six “spa suites” with hot tubs and a similar number of suites with full kitchens. Rooms will go for approximately $100 a night, with suites a little higher. Each room will feature a wet bar with a microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker.
