DANVILLE, IL— Construction will begin on a new Holiday Inn Express here this week, according to a report in The News Gazette. A groundbreaking ceremony for the 72-room property took place on April 17. Devchand Patel, the hotels operator, expects the hotel to open in late October, the report said. Patel operates several other hotels in northern Indiana, northern Ohio and Illinois. The new Holiday Inn Express will feature 18 executive suites, six whirlpool baths, an indoor pool, exercise facility and conference room. Although the new hotel will be built in the midst of a cluster of existing hotels including the Best Western Regency, the Ramada Inn, Sleep Inn & Suites and Super 8 of Danville, Patel said in the report: “There is a definite need for another nice hotel.”
