New Hilton Garden Inn Planned For Duncanville, TX

DUNCANVILLE, TX— Dallas developer Second Century Investments is planning to build a Hilton Garden Inn on one of Duncanvilles last remaining undeveloped tracts of land, according to a recent report in the The Dallas Morning News. Citing the areas growth as a factor, Second Century partner Ted Pittman said he hopes the hotel will attract more business travelers to southwest Dallas County. Pittman said the hotel, which would be on 6.5 acres on the southeast corner of Interstate 20 and North Main Street, would look like the Hilton Garden Inn recently completed in Allen. The five- or six-story building would have 150 rooms and a restaurant. Plans call for more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space apart from the main building. The property would also have room for two more restaurants and about 10,000 square feet of retail space. Pittman indicated to the newspaper that there was some hesitation about the project because of the location, explaining that much of new hotel construction has been north of Dallas, not south. But a city study of the market and the proposed site convinced him otherwise. Earlier this year the citys economic development team approached Pittman about building a hotel. The Duncanville Community and Economic Development Corp. has been trying to lure more hotels, restaurants, medical facilities and a variety of other businesses to southwest Dallas County. According to a PKF Consulting market study of the area, a new hotel would succeed. The study found that a number of businesses, organizations and other entities could use the hotel either for meetings and conferences or to put up guests. SOURCE: The Dallas Morning News
