FLOWER MOUND, TX—New Era Hotels & Resorts and Sunset Legacy, LP will develop The Pearl on the Peninsula Hotel & Conference Center, a 12-story, 220-room and suite luxury hotel and conference center overlooking Lake Grapevine here.

The hotel will be located along Grapevine Lake and will be the centerpiece of the southern 25-acre peninsula, which is part of the 150-acre mixed-use development, Lakeside DFW.

The development of The Pearl on The Peninsula Hotel & Conference Center is driven by the Tarwater and Stewart families, who have collectively owned the property since the 1890s. “We are thrilled that L. Scott Tarwater, partner and president of New Era Hotels & Resorts, will lead the development effort since he sold the property to our family in 1984,” said Alan Stewart, Sunset Legacy, LP.

“Over 30 years ago, my father, Peter P. Stewart, envisioned an international hotel overlooking the lake to complement the new DFW International Airport,” continued Stewart. “Our family is thrilled that he will see this dream come true right before his 95th birthday.”

Flower Mound Town Council approved a measure that will assist New Era Hotels & Resorts in developing the hotel and conference center. The hotel will have 12 stories, with the top level featuring exclusive sky villas with lake views. The hotel will include a 32,000-sq.-ft. conference center. The developer plans to seek LEED certification for the hotel and conference center.

The hotel will feature flexible meeting spaces, a 10,000-sq.-ft. ballroom, an infinity pool and two restaurants—one a European market concept and the other a full-service upscale signature restaurant and bar. An additional bar is planned to be located near the outdoor pool.

“It is an honor to bring another wonderful hotel to Flower Mound, particularly on the land that my parents, grandparents and I grew up on,” said L. Scott Tarwater. “The opportunity to bring a truly unique, luxury hotel concept that honors our community’s heritage, along with creating a premier international destination for guests and locals to experience, is very significant to me.”

Tarwater and New Era Hotels & Resorts are leading the development effort, and DePalma Hotels & Resorts will manage the property. The project team includes Merriman Associates/Architects; TBG (landscape design); Duncan, Miller, Ullmann Design (interior design); Gateway Planning (master planning); and Kimley-Horn (engineering). Balfour Beatty is acting as design builder.
