MILAN—Moxy Hotels made its debut here with the opening of its first boutique hotel for budget-savvy travelers.
“Moxy is the essence of the next generation traveler, not only Gen X and Y, but guests with a younger sensibility, for whom contemporary style is paramount,” stated Tina Edmundson, global brand officer for Marriott International’s luxury and lifestyle brands. “Every aspect of Moxy Hotels has been thoughtfully researched and crafted to reflect and deliver on the ever-changing lifestyles and expectations of this rapidly growing customer segment.”
The 162 guestrooms are outfitted with sound-reducing walls, 42-in., LCD flat-screen televisions, free WiFi and armchairs in neutral fabrics. Every room has a floor-to-ceiling art piece. According to Moxy Hotels, the design is functional and uncluttered with simple, thoughtful touches including glass shelving and open closets.
The lobby and interiors are boutique-hotel inspired, fusing refined and raw materials, organic and linear lines, and public/private spaces. The lobby blends colors and shapes with modern and contemporary furniture.
Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe, added, “We are delighted to launch the highly anticipated Moxy Milan, our first Moxy hotel that introduces an exciting and affordable hotel-design concept to Europe. Investor interest has been exceptional and to date we have signed 11 Moxy hotels, all due to open throughout Europe by the end of 2016.”
Moxy locations are planned for Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Oslo, Aberdeen and London.
