PARK CITY, UT—Ask a local and they’ll tell you Park City—home of the Sundance Film Festival—is brimming with year-round outdoorsy adventure, serving as the base camp for skiing and après ski socializing.
Catering to its affluent clientele here, the Westgate Park City Resort & Spa is offering medical-grade services in its private sanctuary, Serenity Spa by Westgate, through a partnership with local medical center Utah Stem Cells Clinic.
“We wanted to not just have a spa to facilitate basic treatments such as massage and nail services, but to have doctors on-site injecting different stem cell treatments from the vampire face lift or breast lift. It makes our spa more than a destination as there’s now a medical component,” said Brian Waltrip, GM, Westgate Park City Resort & Spa. “It’s a win-win, right? On one side, guests are comfortable when they receive these treatments when it’s done by a doctor and they’re more relaxed knowing it’s in a spa. They can still relax, spend time in our sauna and Jacuzzi, and have champagne. If there are spouses with them, they can engage the amenities while the client enjoy this treatment.”
Vampire facial, anyone? Popular with celebrities, this cosmetic procedure offered at Serenity Spa by Westgate involves extracting platelet-rich plasma from the client’s blood and, in turn, adding it to the face to repair and revitalize the skin. Dr. William Cimikoski, medical director of Utah Stem Cells, is a certified provider of this and other nonsurgical services, such as the Vampire Facelift and Vampire Breast Lift.
“This is a natural partnership, as travelers now have one place they can go to rejuvenate physically and mentally,” said Dr. Cimikoski, a medical toxicologist who specializes in stem cell joint regeneration, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, medical aesthetics and medical weight loss. “Guests can receive a treatment on a Friday and then relax and enjoy all the wonderful amenities of the resort throughout the rest of the weekend.”
Waltrip saw the benefits of stem cell treatments firsthand when he was treated for a knee injury. It made him a believer. “It was more from my personal experience of having knee surgeries and then doing stem cell in my knee and seeing significant recovery and success rates of that,” he said. “I knew that stem cell treatments were trending, and combined with my person experience, I believed our affluent clientele would be interested in that product.”
Waltrip explained that while they didn’t do a lot of advertising, the resort’s new spa programming is gaining traction.
“It’s a unique experience. Guests are so used to going to a doctor’s office, not a spa with a luxury grotto to have this kind of experience. Some people fly and they don’t have to worry about where I’m going to recover or stay post-treatment,” he said. “The things that stand out more than anything is you have a doctor on-site inside of a beautiful spa and get medical-related treatments. That’s where we get the best reviews.”
