UNCASVILLE, CT— Mohegan Sun unveiled the final element of its $1 billion expansion, the new 34-story, 1,200-room Mohegan Sun Hotel. The tower features more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space, full-service spa, fitness center, indoor swimming pool, outdoor sun terrace and 24-hour restaurant. “The completion of Project Sunburst marks an important milestone for the Mohegan Tribe and fulfills our dream to create a magical and multi-dimensional destination, said Mark Brown, chairman of the Mohegan Tribe. “Visitors may be drawn to Mohegan Sun by our gaming, but they will also stay to shop and dine in our over 40 retail and restaurant outlets, enjoy shows at our 10,000- seat arena, 300-seat cabaret or 350-seat Wolf Den and relax in our luxurious hotel and spa. The hotel features 25 River Suites and 73 Sky Suites. Each guestroom measures a minimum of 450 square fee. Standard amenities include marble baths, comfortable lounge chairs and the latest in telecommunications technologies, including: three two-line telephones with dataports and voice mail, web and e-mail access, video in-room dining menus and ordering, bill review and check-out accessibility and a state-of-the-art security entry system. There are currently 450 hotel rooms available; all 1,200 will be ready for guests by Memorial Day. River suites, which average 872 square feet, offer a spacious bedroom, 1.5 baths and separate living room space, while the one-bedroom Sky suites, averaging 1,110 square feet, feature a deluxe king bed, 1.5 baths with special windowed-bath overlooking the foothills of southeastern Connecticut and separate living and dining areas. In May, Mohegan Sun will unveil five luxury suites that have been expertly designed for in-suite entertaining for groups of up to 100 people. These suites include a living room, large dining/meeting room, back service pantry/kitchen, a full-service bar and a master bedroom with a deluxe bathroom. Mohegan Sun is owned by the Mohegan Tribe.
