NEW YORK Millennium Hotels and Resorts is in the midst of creating a new advertising campaign, which is expected to launch May 1, and will be featured in both trade and consumer publications, said Jean Spaulding, vp/sales and marketing in an interview with HOTEL BUSINESS..
The new advertising program will emphasize Millennium s bolstered presence in the U.S. Millennium Hotels & Resorts just renamed 11 of its 12 Regal-branded hotels following a recently completed $70 million system-wide renovation program.
In addition, a newly created position will aid in jointly promoting Millennium s two New York hotels the Millennium Hotel New York Broadway and the Millennium Hotel New York United Nations (formerly the Regal U.N. Plaza).
Richard Keating was named to the new position of vice president/marketing, New York hotels, where he will combine the hotels sales teams to create synergies between the Manhattan properties, making it easier to cross sell them.
We have such important assets here, and they have similar profiles with regard to business travelers and different offerings for group business, so we want to try to create more synergies through cross selling them, said Spaulding. This will happen more easily with the leadership of one individual, she said.
Spaulding said the new ad campaign will feature specific promotions to tie the two New York properties together. We want to tell customers they [hotels]are related. She said that ads will be placed in newspapers in New York and its feeder markets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, and Boston Globe to get the message across to consumers.
