LOS ANGELES—Viceroy Hotel Group has appointed Mike Walsh as SVP of hotel operations for the Americas region comprising North and South America, the Caribbean and Mexico, effective June 22. In the newly created role, Walsh will be utilizing his 30 years of expertise in hotel operations, strategic planning, labor relations, renovation projects, pre-opening processes and owner relations to further elevate Viceroy’s position as a leader in modern luxury and support the continued expansion planned for the Americas region, according to the company.
Walsh began his career in hospitality at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Upon receiving a B.S. in hotel and restaurant administration, he went on to spend 24 years with Hyatt Hotels in numerous locations as general manager in the U.S. and throughout the Caribbean at resorts and residences. He then moved on to work with the Ritz-Carlton brand, where he served for three years as the general manager overseeing the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia and opening the Ritz-Carlton Residence. Most recently, he was the regional VP Northeast with Morgans Hotel Group and an adjunct professor with Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality.
