KUALA LUMPUR— Uneasy about traveling to the United States and Europe post-Sept. 11, Middle Eastern travelers are expected to flock to Malaysia on vacation this year. According to a recent report on eTurboNews.com, the tourism industry in Malaysia could expect a two-fold increase in tourist arrivals from the Middle East between May and September this year. Tourists from the Middle East are now opting for “safer” destinations than their traditional U.S. or European destinations, the report said. Last year Middle Eastern tourists accounted for 113,000 out of 12.77 million arrivals last year. Malaysian tourism officials also attribute this rise to the growing awareness of Malaysia as a tourist destination. SOURCE: eTurboNews.com
