COLUMBIA, MD— MICROS Systems announced that it was awarded a contract to install property management systems (PMS) in Armed Forces Recreation Centers (AFRCs) in the United States and abroad. The company said that the U.S. Army Community and Family Support Center (USACFSC) selected OPERA for its intuitive, easy-to-use technology and MICROSs strength in providing enterprise-class applications and global support. The 394-room Dragon Hill Lodge in Seoul, Korea, and the 817-room Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu are already using OPERA solutions. Two additional AFRCs, the 287-room Shades of Green in Orlando and the 337-room AFRC-E, a series of lodges and other establishments in the Garmisch area of Germany, will complete implementations by the end of the year, MICROS Systems reported. The OPERA Property Management Solution (PMS) suite met the Armys requirements for a COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solution that provides significant flexibility and configuration for each site, according to Jim Borkowski, vp/business services and government solutions at MICROS.
