LOS ANGELES—MGM Mirage hired architect Cesar Pelli to design a 4,000 room Las Vegas Strip hotel and casino that will stand at the center of its planned $4.7 billion development dubbed Project CityCenter. Concept renderings by Pelli, known for projects including the Petronas high-rise towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, show two thin 60-story glass towers. In addition to the hotel and casino, CityCenter will include three boutique hotels, shopping and entertainment, and 1,650 condominiums and hotel/condominium units on company land next to its high-end Bellagio casino. The project is scheduled to open in 2009.
