LAS VEGAS MGM Mirage has signed an agreement with the city of Detroit to build a permanent casino on property along the Detroit River, and it expects to begin construction in summer 2002. The company did not disclose the cost of the project.
MGM Mirage already operates a casino in a temporary location in downtown Detroit along with two other operators who have pledged money to develop land into a park near the new, permanent MGM Mirage riverfront casino. The other operators, MotorCity Casino and Greektown Casino, will remain at their present locations and construct their permanent hotel-casinos there. (4/2/01)
