EL PAIS, MEXICO- The Mexican authorities revoked the permission granted to Spanish hotel chain Sol Melia to build a hotel complex on the beaches of the Caribbean. Authorities said it would affect the nesting patterns of marine tortoises in the area. The suspension of Sol Melias license to build comes in the middle of the groups expansion. Sol Melia said it trusts the Mexican government will compensate it for the investments already made. The Xcacel-Xcacelito hotel project had been suspendedsince April due to pressure from ecological groups concerned about the impact on the nature reserve.
