Merlot, iFone Unveil HSIA Partnership For Markets in Mexico

Bethel, CT and Mexico City— Merlot Communications Inc. and iFone, S.A. de C.V. unveiled an agreement whereby iFone will offer Merlot’s VROOMService high-speed Internet Access product to select Mexican markets. The Merlot VROOMService solution uses a property’s existing telephone system wiring to provide guaranteed high bandwidth connections to the Internet while allowing simultaneous voice communications. The telephone wall jack in each room is replaced with the Merlot LapJack wall plate, which is then connected to the existing telephone wiring. The Merlot LapJack receives its power over the same wires that carry the high-speed data, and the technology guarantees fixed bandwidth of 10 Mbps to each user on the system.
