WASHINGTON, D.C.— MeriStar Hotels & Resorts has promoted Hoyt Bacon to the position of chief marketing officer. Previously, Bacon served as evp/sales and marketing for MeriStar. In the newly created position, Bacon will be responsible for the marketing activities of the company’s 219 managed hotels and 4,000 BridgeStreet Corporate Housing Worldwide units, including sales, advertising, and public relations. Bacon will take on additional duties of enhancing marketing relationships with the company’s hotel franchise companies to increase marketing, sales, and reservation efforts. He will also manage the company’s distribution marketing channels and expand MeriStar’s electronic marketing initiatives. In addition, he will oversee the marketing of the company’s Doral brand.
