WASHINGTON— The Melrose Hotel here has completed a $10 million renovation, which included updating and modernizing the lobby, redesigning the guestrooms, meeting facilities and The Landmark Restaurant, as well as the creation of the Library Bar. Completion follows the recent announcement that the Barbizon Hotel in New York City will become The Melrose Hotel, New York on June 1. “For a luxury property like The Melrose Hotel in our nations capital, we wanted to be sure that we deliver a level of service and ambiance worthy of the hotels name, as well as its location,” said John DePaul, president/ CEO. “We are very pleased with the results and we believe our guests will be too.” Renovations began in fall 2001 after the official conversion of the Wyndham Bristol Hotel to The Melrose Hotel, Washington, D.C. “Weve brought our award-winning Library Bar and Landmark Restaurant to Washington from The Melrose Hotel in Dallas,” said DePaul “And the great thing about the D.C. hotel is that we also offer outside seating right on Pennsylvania Ave., perfect this time of year.” Located between the White House and Georgetown, the hotel has 240 guestrooms, including 35 suites and more than 5,000 square feet of meeting space. The Melrose Hotel Co. is a subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Berwind Property Group.
