PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN—Meliá Hotels International’s Meliá Dunas, on the island of Sal in Cabo Verde, opened Nov. 1. It’s the company’s second hotel after the opening of the Meliá Tortuga Beach Resort & Spa in 2011. Meliá Hotels International has several other Cabo Verde openings planned including Meliá Llana Resort & Spa, on the island of Sal, and Meliá White Sands, on the island of Boa Vista. All the hotels are owned by British company The Resort Group PLC.
Meliá Dunas is a five-star all-inclusive resort located on Algodoeiro beach facing a coral reef, and is only a few minutes away from the city of Santa María and Amilcar Cabral International Airport.
Meliá Dunas provides 1,143 suites distributed amongst several buildings; 14 bars and five restaurants; a YHI spa; a gym; five outdoor pools for adults and two children’s pools; a themed play area; sports facilities; and meetings and event space.
