PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN—Meliá Hotels & Resorts has opened the brand’s fifth Italian property, Meliá Campione. The hotel is located on the border between southern Switzerland and northern Italy, and features views across Ceresio Lake.
Ten minutes from the city center of Lugano, the hotel’s 40 rooms and two suites are designed to capture the picturesque location of the hotel, complete with floor to ceiling windows that frame the Alps and lake, according to the company. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV, air conditioning and WiFi.
The hotel’s new restaurant, Dolce Vita, offers Mediterranean inspired dishes served alongside views of Ceresio Lake. Using fresh, seasonal ingredients, the restaurant serves a daily international buffet and à la carte menu paired with a wine and champagne selection.
A wellness and fitness center will be introduced to the hotel later this year, and will provide a steam-bath, sauna and gym along with a wide range of spa treatments.
“With such a beautiful location, halfway between Switzerland and Italy and on the shores of Ceresio Lake, we believe that Meliá Campione will be very popular with tourists looking to uncover the natural beauty of the Italian lakes,” said Gabriel Escarrer, vice chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International.
