TORONTO—Fairmont Hotels and Resorts has appointed Clarence McLeod to the newly created position of Corporate Fairmont Gold Manager to oversee the companys lifestyle program. With nearly 20 years of hotel-related experience, McLeod most recently was Fairmont Gold Manager at The Fairmont Washington, DC, Fairmont’s first hotel in the United States to offer this exclusive lifestyle product aimed at meeting the needs of corporate and leisure travelers. Fairmont Gold is a private, dedicated area that offers guests the experience of an exclusive oasis within the hotel. Fairmont Gold Managers are focused on anticipating and addressing each individual guest’s needs, accommodating requests from dinner reservations to planning special events, or providing light secretarial duties. Gold Floors have a private check-in and check-out area and offer a residential-style room décor with upgraded amenities. Guests may enjoy privileges such as an honor bar and cocktail-hour canapés, as well as a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast. Guests also have access to complimentary high-speed Internet and wireless access in their guestroom, as well as executive boardroom facilities. McLeod will be responsible for managing, developing and executing on service and operational standards for Fairmont Gold, overseeing new openings and transitions, colleague training and development to establish new Fairmont Gold leaders, as well as redefining the service initiatives for the brand’s hotels like The Fairmont San Francisco and The Fairmont Banff Springs. A large part of McLeod’s initial focus will be on the growth and development of the Fairmont Gold product. This includes supporting and fully leveraging the recent introduction of Fairmont Gold in locations like Dallas, Chicago, Scottsdale, and Banff, as well as developing the product in some of the company’s upcoming hotels including the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, Fairmont Abu Dhabi Creek, Fairmont Haitang Bay Resort, China and the Fairmont Marrakech.
