SINGAPORE— Millennium & Copthorne Hotels (M&C) is setting sights on expanding in key Asian cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and Bangkok, according to Travel Asia Magazine. M&C is reportedly looking at acquiring hotels or securing management contracts in the four and five-star category in these key cities. RevPAR for the group’s hotels in Asia increased 2.7% in the third quarter compared to the corresponding period last year. Its 13 hotels in the region contributed 28% of the group’s total revenue of £284 million (US$441 million) for the half-year ended June 30. M&C’s biggest hotel in Asia, the 856-room Grand Hyatt Taipei, contributed 37% to group revenue for the nine months ended September 30, the magazine reported. In the wake of improved market conditions in Indonesia, revenue from Millennium Hotel Sirih Jakarta rose 60% over the same period last year. SOURCE: Travel Asia Magazine
