LONDON— As reported in Londons Sunday Business newspaper, the Millennium & Copthorne lodging chain here is planning a multi-million-dollar hotel-buying spree throughout China, Japan and Thailand in an effort to capture a larger share of the hospitality business in that part of the world. The group, which reportedly already owns or manages 13 Asian hotels, is said to be looking at facilities in Bangkok, Tokyo and Osaka as well as in such Mainland Chinese cities as Beijing and Shanghai. M&C Chairman Kwek Leng Beng was quoted as saying expanding in Asia is a priority because the company expects the region to be at the forefront of growth in the global tourism market.
