COCONUT GROVE, FL— Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide member The Mayfair House Hotel, a 179-room property with themed suites owned and managed by Lodgian, has joined with other PH&R members in a fundraising effort for the American Red Cross. The group’s effort, dubbed “Spirit of America,” will provide incentives to travel agents and meeting planners, and will donate a percentage from each booking to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. “It’s crucial at this time of crisis for us to strengthen economic activity and support the travel industry,” said Jon Wubbena, area managing director and general manager of the Mayfair House Reservations made between now and December 20 at any participating PH&R property will qualify for a 3% premium on regular commissions paid. PHR will pay 2% to the agency/agent and 1% directly to the relief fund. Reservations booked into a corporate account will qualify for the 1% donation. Group meetings held through March 31, 2002, also will qualify for the 1% donation.
