MAUI, HI The Westin Maui is spending $14 million on the renovation of its 758 rooms. The 720-room Maui Marriott Resort & Ocean Club is more than halfway through its $63-million renovation.
The Westin Maui is building a $1.4-million, 200-seat beachfront restaurant called Tropica which is scheduled to open in December. Last week, the Westin Maui finished razing its former Villa restaurant, which will be replaced with 14,000 square feet of meeting space. The Westin s renovations are scheduled for completion next summer.
At the Maui Marriott Resort, plans include converting the 120-room Molokai Wing into timeshare units, and renovating all 600 guestrooms in the Lanai and Maui towers. The project includes the rebuilding of the lobbies, ballrooms, shop facades, and the addition of a $7-million pool. (8/18/00)
