KENT, ENGLAND— Marston Hotels recently purchased the three-star Aldwark Manor Golf and Country Club near York, England in one of the largest hotel deals outside London since Sept. 11, according to a report recently on caterer.com. The family-owned, independent hotel group— which currently operates 16 four-star and three-star hotels in England, plus has one other under construction in Cambridge— is rumored to have paid £8 million (USD$12,044,800 million) for the 60-bedroom hotel, which it hopes to upgrade to four-star as soon as possible. Marston officials noted the company was looking at “a couple more hotels,” but they would not comment on where they were, according to the report. Officials also indicated that the company hoped to grow to about 20 hotels. SOURCE: caterer.com
