Marriott, VARIG Link Frequency Programs

WASHINGTON, DC— Marriott (International’s) Rewards has struck up a new partnership with VARIG (Airlines’) Smiles frequent-flyer program allowing Marriott’s frequent guests to earn an unlimited number of VARIG Smiles miles when staying at any of the lodging company’s 2,100 participating hotels worldwide. Effective immediately, Marriott Rewards members who choose to earn miles and designate VARIG as their preferred airline program will earn three Smiles miles per U.S. dollar spent at: Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites; Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites; Marriott Conference Centers; and Marriott Vacation Club International. Marriott Rewards members will also earn one Smiles mile per U.S. dollar spent on the room rate only at: Courtyard by Marriott; Fairfield Inn by Marriott; SpringHill Suites by Marriott; Residence Inn by Marriott; and TownePlace Suites by Marriott. In addition, Marriott Rewards members also have the opportunity to convert points into VARIG Smiles miles. With this partnership in place, VARIG becomes the 41st airline to offer Marriott Rewards members “a faster way to a free flight.” Also, Marriott reportedly becomes VARIGs only hotel partner to offer unlimited mileage earning.
