WEST PALM BEACH, FL— In anticipation of the opening of a new convention center, the Marriott Hotel chain has purchased the Sheraton at CityPlace Hotel here. According to Terry Hitt, general manager of Sheraton, Marriott plans to invest some $15 million in updating the 349-room hotel, including the guest rooms, restaurant and the bar. The renovation is expected to be completed by the fall when the convention center is scheduled to officially open. Marriott will take over management of the hotel by April1, according to Hitt.
