BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS Marriott International plans to operate a $200-million hotel and casino complex that is scheduled to open here next year, according to the government of the eastern Caribbean nation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Marriott Royal St. Kitts Resort is being built on 37 acres of beachfront property and will increase the two-island nations hotel room inventory by more than 40%. The 664-unit hotel and condominium resort, under construction by Toronto-based developers, will include a 15,000-square-foot conference center and a 26,000-square-foot casino. (2/8/01)
