Marriott Still Open To Le Meridien Deal

WASHINGTON, D.C. According to a recent Reuters report, Marriott International is still open to a deal involving the Le Meridien hotels that are up for sale, after withdrawing its bid for the chain because it was not selected as the preferred bidder.

“There s no deal finalized yet,” Marriott CFO Arne Sorenson told investors during the company s recent annual meeting here. “They have our phone number and we ll be quite interested in seeing what happens over the next few months.” (5/4/01)
