WASHINGTON, D.C.— Bill Marriott Jr., Chief Executive of Marriott International, has stated that September hotel bookings were down dramatically, but bookings were holding steady for October. Appearing on CNN September 23, Marriott predicted a 40% drop for October, November, and December but admitted that estimate might be tough. “We think travel will come back,” Marriott said. As previously reported, Marriott’s World Trade Center hotel was destroyed when the two skyscrapers collapsed nearly two weeks ago. But a second hotel, The Marriott Financial Center, had suffered no structural damage, and Marriott hoped it would reopen within three to six months. SOURCE: Forbes
