DUBAI Marriott International said it plans to open eight super luxury hotels by 2006 under the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts joint venture, which was announced in February.

Two of the Bulgari hotels are slated to open as early as next year, noted Marriott s VP/International Hotel Development, Anton Najjar.

The eight properties in the first phase of development will be located in: New York; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Miami; Chicago; Paris; London; and Italy.

The first Bulgari property in Italy will either be in Rome or Milan [but]most probably Rome, said Najjar. It will feature an Italian style with between 80 and 200 rooms, he said.

Following that phase of development, additional hotels will likely be built in Dubai and Hong Kong, Najjar said. (5/3/01)
