LAS VEGAS— USA Investors has purchased the Marquis Resort here, with plans said to be in the works to reopen the hotel— shuttered since 2002— this December following an estimated $5 million of renovations. According to The Desert Sun, the investors bought the 165-room hotel from Valley Independent Bank for an undisclosed price. The hotel has 20,000 square feet of meeting space and 20,000-square-feet of outside-exhibition space. The property has been closed since January 2002, said the report, adding its previous owner, Mark Bragg, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection the following March. Northwest Hospitality of Vancouver, WA, is slated to manage the property, which may be reflagged as a Renaissance, Doubletree or Crowne Plaza, the report said. SOURCE: The Desert Sun
