MARIETTA, GA— The Marietta Conference Center & Resort is once again on the cutting edge of technology with their recent implementation of wireless Internet service. With this new service the Marietta Conference Center & Resort (MCCR) will be the only hotel or conference center in the metro Atlanta area capable of offering facility wide, high-speed wireless Internet service simultaneously to individuals or groups of up to 400 guests. The new high-speed, wireless access to the Internet and e-mail will provide access at speeds up to 30 times faster than traditional dial-up modems, said executives at the property. The service will provide guests access facility wide; from the pool to meeting rooms. Before this service, guests had to return to their room to use a dial-up modem. With this implementation, guests will now be able to connect wherever and whenever they need to. The service costs $14.95 per day for overnight reservations and $19.95 for day use. Upon check-in, guests who wish to use this service will be given hassle-free installation software and a standard wireless card that slips easily into their laptop computer. The service is being provided to MCCR by OpenAir Communications, based in New York. OpenAir Communications installs, finances, configures and operates secure, high-speed wireless networks for large enterprises including conference facilities, exhibition centers, universities and commercial properties. OpenAir will maintain and support the wireless Internet access throughout the entire facility, as well as wired service in the hotel’s 199 guestrooms and suites.
