MILWAUKEE— Marcus Hotels and Resorts, a division of the Marcus Corp., plans to double the size of its third-party hotel management contract business over the next three to five years. The company recently increased its total managed portfolio to more than 3,000 rooms with the signing of two new contracts: the 225-suite Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark located at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Wisconsin, and the 171-room Hilton Garden Inn Houston NW/Chateau. William Otto, COO/Marcus Hotels said, “In the coming months, we expect to see a growing number of hotels changing ownership, which is the most frequent point in time when new managers are brought in.” He added that a number of properties that were acquired in the mid-‘90s have loans coming due and are in need of refurbishment, which could lead to ownership turnover. Marcus Corp. also owns the Baymont Inns & Suites brand.
