ORLANDO FL— HOTEL BUSINESS® has learned Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa is slating a $50 million renovation to construct a 24,000-square foot Balinese health spa The addition will offer traditional Asian therapies, complete with 24 private European salon treatment rooms and outdoor seaside treatment terraces, making it the largest spa on the Gulf Coast. “The renovation is designed to harmonize with the resorts natural and cultural environment,” said general manager Bob Dictor of the 735-room resort. The vaulted atrium lobby will have 35-foot picture windows , with wood A-framed beams and twin sandcastle pavilions connected by glass breezeways. The project also will debut a 10,000-square-foot ballroom and beachside terrace featuring panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico and a complete redesign of two out of the five restaurants A $3.5 million enhancement also is under way for the 18-hole championship golf course under the direction of golf course architect, Bob Cupp. Construction will conclude in October.— Stefani C.
