CHEVY CHASE, MD—The Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is set to debut on Sept. 5 in Ubud, Bali, as the third resort in the Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio. Named after the entrance to a traditional Hindu temple, Mandapa is set along the Ayung River as it meets the jungle in Ubud, the cultural and spiritual heart of Bali.
A collection of accommodations will offer 35 luxury suites and 25 private pool villas surrounded by a tropical landscape. Unobstructed views of working rice paddies can be seen from private terraces. Interiors designed by Jeffrey Wilkes of Asia-based DesignWilkes will provide a traditional yet contemporary Balinese aesthetic that is naturally inspired and sustainably sourced, according to the company.
Amenities will include individually tailored spiritual, wellness, health and detox programs complemented by the full-time personalized attention of a dedicated Patih, or butler. The center of Mandapa will feature a traditional rice field, allowing guests to experience methods of planting, harvesting and tending this local culinary staple.
In addition, Mandapa village is set to be home to four restaurants and lounges offering an array of authentic Indonesian cuisine, Mediterranean dining, and tailored health-conscious menus for wellness and detox programs incorporating local ingredients. Dining Beyond will allow guests the chance to dine in exclusive locations within the reserve and feature a tailor-made menu for each guest experience.
The Spa at Mandapa will feature eight treatment rooms and utilize ESPA and local products. The spa complex will also feature a state-of-the-art fitness center, sauna, riverfront yoga studio, vitality pool and relaxation areas.
An organic garden, farm and an educational kids hut are tucked away from the rest of the resort and nature-based educational activities will be available. In partnership with The Green School in Bali, the educational experiences of Green Camp at Mandapa introduce nature and cultural traditions in student-centered learning environment.
