WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Madison is getting ready to re-open on Aug. 29 with grand opening festivities to follow in November. The 353-room hotel has been closed since November 2002 for a major refurbishment. Established in 1963, the hotel blends early 19th century style with contemporary amenities and services. The Madison was built by real estate developer Marshall Coyne and became a five-star property. Following Coyne’s death, the hotel was purchased in 2002 by the Buccini/Pollin Group and Monument Realty LLC. The rejuvenated guestrooms feature Georgian, Federal and American Empire style furnishings. Contemporary amenities include 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, high-speed Internet access, minibar, three phones with two lines, heated towel racks and Penhaligan’s bath products. The new Madison has more than 11,000 square feet of private function space; a 24/7 business center; a 1,500-square-foot fitness center; two restaurants and a bar.
