WASHINGTON, DC—The historic Madison Hotel, here, has completed a $20-million restoration project.
Interior designer Dominick Coyne oversaw the project. The Madison Hotel first opened in 1963 and was acquired by Atlanta-based Jamestown last year for $123 million. The property includes 356 rooms, a portion of which have private, covered terraces. Coyne relied on a color palette of warm gray, brown and taupe accented by octagonal shapes. Guestrooms feature gray and white toile wall coverings, as well as replicas of furnishings that were found in the White House decades ago. The Federalist Restaurant, which is adjacent to the hotel, was also redesigned to showcase vintage oak wood and a gray, taupe and black color palette accented with red. The property’s cafe and lobby bar have been enhanced as well.
The final component of the restoration will be the renovation of the Madison Hotel’s three presidential suites. Slated for completion next month, the suites are being enhanced with custom furnishings and new kitchenettes.
