TORONTO Edward Mace, who recently resigned as vice chairman of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, will work independently advising hotel clients, including Fairmont, on new development opportunities, according to Lew Wolff, co-chairman of Fairmont and chairman of Maritz, Wolff & Co.
Mace, who led the merger between Fairmont Hotels and Canadian Pacific Hotels in 1999, and who recently completed the acquisitions of the Kea Lani resort in Maui and a new hotel in Puerto Rico, will officially remain as an advisor to Fairmont for a transitional period.
He ll stay long enough to help make sure it s a smooth transition, Wolff told HOTEL BUSINESS. However, he said Mace will immediately be passing his baton to Fairmont Chairman William Fatt and COO Chris Cahill.
I m sorry that Ed is leaving, said Wolff, but we will continue to do other things with him, and we are currently working with him on a couple of development projects now.
Mace joined Fairmont in 1996. (3/5/01) Diana M. Rodriguez
