LOS ANGELES HOTEL BUSINESS. has learned that a new 207-room Standard hotel is set to open this summer here in the city s up-and-coming downtown area. The 12-story Los Angeles Standard is expected to feature two restaurants with a rooftop swimming pool and bar that will compete with a number of new hotel developments planned for the area, including two historical hotel renovations by developer Tom Gilmore.
The hotel will be converted from the existing Bank of California building, which originally served as Superior Oil s offices. The Los Angeles Standard marks the second hotel in the Standard brand s portfolio, with the third Standard hotel set to open in New York City, according to a source close to the situation.
