NEW YORK—Long Weekend, a new hospitality group, has launched, with three projects in its portfolio. The independent collective will bring together award-winning designers, architects, restaurateurs and operators to create thoughtfully designed properties located in unexpected destinations.
Each Long Weekend property, a mixture of existing and yet to be built, will be unified by a common goal: to create spaces and experiences that hold lasting memories.
Long Weekend properties redefine luxury travel by placing equal focus on inspiring design, best-in-class customer service, unforgettable food and beverage experiences, meaningful community connection and programming authentic to each location, according to the company.
Long Weekend is in charge of strategic direction at The Lake House on Canandaigua—a new property in New York’s Finger Lakes region—designed and developed by The Brooklyn Home Company and Studio Tack. The group is also leading the redevelopment of The Seagate Hotel & Beach Club, to be completed in 2021. This full service, 153-room hotel also includes a beach club, country club and yacht club. The result will be a welcoming seaside escape that pays homage to classic Floridian design with a modern twist. In development is The Elbow Cay Club, a boutique hotel and residential project on historic Elbow Cay in Abaco, Bahamas, opening its doors in 2023.
Long Weekend is led by founders Matt Winslow and Tracy Georgiou, two visionaries who bring their combined experiences across business and culture to the future of luxury hospitality.
Winslow brings more than two decades of entrepreneurial experience having led the growth of start-ups in advertising, entertainment and technology. He will serve as managing partner of Long Weekend.
“Travelers are increasingly looking for intimate, luxury destinations that offer localized programming, wellness offerings for the entire family and memorable food and beverage experiences,” Winslow said. “We believe the future of hospitality is highly personalized with a deep reverence and connection to local communities where our properties are located. We’ve selected our partners to ensure that our first three projects will be some of the most exciting to come to market in the next few years.”
With more than a decade of experience building brand partnerships and product development strategy for fashion brands including Loeffler Randall and J. Crew, Georgiou serves as Long Weekend’s chief brand officer. Georgiou oversees design, marketing, retail, brand partnerships and communications. “We are redefining what a vacation or getaway looks like in 2020 and beyond,” Georgiou said. “The Lake House shows the level of quality we will be known for as we announce future partnerships with some of the most creative leaders in the hospitality industry, who will join us in re-imagining the Seagate Hotel & Beach Club and in the development of The Elbow Cay Club.”
Joining Georgiou and Winslow is Chief Financial Officer Dan Duggan, a hospitality veteran who has led finance and operations at The Seagate Hotel & Beach Club for the past six years. With more than 25 years of hospitality experience, Duggan has held senior finance roles at numerous luxury hotels and resorts including Turnberry Isle Resort & Spa, PGA National Resort & Spa, Wyndham Resorts and Doral Golf Resort & Spa.
