Long List Of Developers Show Interest In San Diego Project

San Diego–An interest list for a 500- to 600-room hotel with a parking garage on Lane Field at the foot of Broadway, and a new cruise ship terminal at the B Street Pier along the North Embarcadero includes a host of developers, according to a report in the San Diego Daily Transcript. The hotel would have a signature three-meal restaurant; at least one casual restaurant; a gourmet coffee shop; a lobby lounge and bar; a top-floor lounge; a poolside bar; fitness center; a spa and shops. The new cruise ship terminal at the B Street Pier would be about 100,000 square feet. A parking garage on Lane Field could conceivably have 1,000 or more spaces, but its size may be affected by height limitations and groundwater issues. There are about 217 cruise ship calls here annually. Approximately 504,000 passengers disembarked here in 2004, about 600,000 are projected in 2005 and it is expected to reach about 1.4 million by 2017.
