ATLANTA— Lodgian has officially appointed David Hawthorne president and CEO. Hawthorne was previously named to these positions on an interim basis, following the departure of Tom Arasi (former president/CEO) earlier this year. For the past six years, Hawthorne has worked with several companies to improve their operating performance, most recently Alliance Entertainment and Tower Records. He will be working in the same capacity at Lodgian. As previously reported, Hawthorne said he plans to develop a strategy to turn the company around. His immediate focus will be to correct the companys balance sheet, which has plagued Lodgian for some time now. Hawthorne was the chairman and CEO of Servico, Inc. (a predecessor of Lodgian) from 1990 to 1996. In related news, the company also announced that Karyn Marasco has resigned her position as evp and COO, effective November 30, 2001. In addition, Thomas Stoughton, the companys former svp/finance, recently left the company to pursue other opportunities.
