LOS ANGELES— According to a panel of top financiers, the slumping U.S. hotel sector will see little or no merger activity in 2002, with the years biggest deal likely to involve either Six Continents or Wyndham International. Six Continents was previously involved in lengthy discussions to buy Wyndham last year, in a proposed multibillion-dollar deal that ultimately fell through. More recently, Six Continents, whose U.S. brands include Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, was in failed talks to buy Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. SOURCE: Reuters
