HOUSTON—Linbeck Group, a Texas-based construction firm, has completed a dual-branded hotel here: the 300-room Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton. An extended-stay property, Homewood Suites has 132 suites while Hampton Inn offers 168 rooms. The total cost of the project was $50 million.
Located near the George R. Brown Convention Center, each hotel has its own distinct entrance, check-in desk and dining area offering complimentary breakfast. However, the property shares one central elevator system, a common lobby and joint amenities under one roof including a fitness center, exterior pool and deck on the fourth floor. The hotels also share parking on two levels.
To deliver the project on schedule, and in time to welcome fans for the 2016 NCAA Final Four tournament in early April, Linbeck utilized a host of applied technologies including Synchro Scheduling Software and BIM 360 to track and document quality assurance and quality control, as well as generating the project punchlist. Bluebeam Revu aided in document management and viewing.
Linbeck previously worked with the hotel’s developer, American Liberty Hospitality, on its 262-room Embassy Suites Houston-Downtown, which opened in 2010.
“With reservations already on the books for the NCAA Final Four, we knew there was no room for error,” said Nick Massad, president and CEO of American Liberty Hospitality. “Linbeck is a trusted partner that builds to exacting standards, and the result is a beautiful addition to downtown Houston’s hotel collection that will attract a wide variety of travelers.”
