ATLANTA— It doesnt look like a replacement for U.S. Franchise Systems Steve Romaniello is in the cards following his departure January 11, said Mike Leven, CEO, USFS. Romaniello announced Jan. 2 he would be resigning from his post as president and COO of U.S. Franchise Systems to take a job outside the hospitality industry. According to Leven, who has worked closely with Romaniello for 12 years, “it wouldnt be easy to replace him.” Leven said he will be taking on many of Romaniellos duties to keep things moving forward at USFS. The remainder of responsibilities will be split among others in the executive ranks at the company, he said. “Some reporting lines will change, but thats about it. Itll just require a lot more work on my part,” said Leven, who noted he has more time to devote to such things since the company is no longer public. “Im going to miss him terribly, but its an exciting time for him,” Leven said of Romaniello. In the announcement made earlier this week, Romaniello said he will be leaving the hospitality industry to accept the position as president, Franchise and Food Service of Carvel Corporation. —Shannon McMullen
