NEW YORK— The New York Palace Hotel has appointed Niklaus Leuenberger to the position of managing director. A 35-year veteran of the luxury hospitality industry, Leuenberger joins the landmark property in midtown Manhattan following a long tenure with Peninsula Hotels. Leuenberger began his career in hospitality at the Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich, Switzerland, and held posts at several other Swiss hotels before joining Peninsula Hotels in 1980. He served at Peninsula properties in Manila, Philippines; Hong Kong; Beijing; and Guangzhou, China; and New York and was also a regional general manager and senior vp of the Americas for Peninsula.
